Company details
QuadrigaCX was a Canadian cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2013 and operated by Quadriga Fintech Solutions. It became one of Canada's largest digital asset trading platforms, allowing users to buy, sell, and store cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and others. In late 2018, the exchange experienced a major crisis after the reported death of its founder and CEO, Gerald Cotten. According to the company, Cotten was the only person with access to the private keys for the exchange's cold wallets, leaving a large portion of customer funds inaccessible. As a result, withdrawals were suspended, and the company entered creditor protection in early 2019.
