BitcoinZK is a proposed Layer-2 scaling solution for Bitcoin that uses zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs to achieve higher throughput and smart contract capabilities. Its design philosophy is to expand Bitcoin with minimal trust assumptions while maintaining compatibility with native BTC. Every user action on the Layer-2 is meant to be 100% provable by ZK and 100% verifiable by third parties. It supports native Bitcoin integration, including BTC gas fees, wallet abstraction, and a zkBridge for deposits and withdrawals. The system introduces EVM compatibility, enabling Turing-complete contracts within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Architecturally, it follows a sovereign rollup model, where consensus and data availability are managed independently rather than fully relying on Bitcoin L1. This design allows modular upgrades, flexible governance, and potential cross-chain interoperability. Its native token, Zyra (ZYRA), funds mining incentives, development, ecosystem growth, and community rewards.
